Georgia Northeastern and Georgia Marble RR. January 17-18, 2009. Wow, did we have a good time! Twenty cars is the limit for these switchbacks and the upper tail has to be the steepest track in the southeast! We had a soggy start but the rain ended before we arrived at the switchbacks. Saturday's visit to the Canton, St. Paul & Pacific Railway (a 7-1/2" gage line) was a real treat. They have a very impressive railroad. A big thank-you to them for hosting us and of course a big thank-you to the Georgia Northeastern and Georgia Marble railroads for letting us use the rails.

Forms for this trip are archived here (in PDF): WelcomeGNRR Release, DSP&P Release, Directions, and a Map.

Heart of Georgia. April 17-18, 2009. We had a great 2-day run on this line again. The weather was perfect, the rails were fine, and the rivers were in flood.  There are so many people to thank, please take a minute to read our special Thank-You letter (PDF).

Archive for this trip's forms is still on-line, just click here.

MSDR map

Mississippi Delta Railroad. May 15-17,2009. We had a great 3-day run. Clarksdale had a blues and motorcycle festival right at our set-on point which gave us something to do after the run on Friday and Saturday. The help from the railroad was fantastic. They flagged many of the crossings for us. Weather was perfect. Not too hot and not too rainy. Many of the creeks and bayous were in flood from the rains of the previous week. Our photo album features the shortest ones in the group. Check it out!

HOG Ogeechee map

Georgia Harvest Motorcar Special. October 17-18, 2009. Two railroads in two easy days, only 45 miles apart. Saturday (17th) we’ll be on the Heart of Georgia starting at Midvillle, going to Kirby and return. Sunday (18th) is the Georgia Midland from Dover to Metter (where every thing’s better) and return. 100 miles round trip for both days. We will cross the Ogeechee River on both trips. Come join us for an excellent fall adventure. $170 trip fee is for both days. Days can not be split. 30 Car limit. More details on the registration form here: PDF or WORD.

An article about the first run in 2003 is in the NAROCA Archives (page 13 of the PDF) and be sure to look at the photos on our sister site.

Chattooga and Chickamauga. October 31 - November 1. Saturday, Summerville Georgia to Rossville and return on the old Central of Georgia. Sunday, we're hoping to run the old TAG line from Kensington, Georgia to Saint Elmo, Tenn. and return but that might change depending on traffic. Friday arrivals may get to spin on the Summerville turntable. We usually meet a steam train twice on Saturday. Sunday's trip is very scenic and runs beside Lookout Mountain (if we're on the TAG line). Expect 90 miles Saturday and 42 Sunday (round trip miles). Only $150 for both days. 35 car limit. Full details on the registration form, now available in PDF or WORD. We also have directions.

Georgia Northeastern and Georgia Marble RR. January 30-31, 2010. A repeat of the 2009 trip. Saturday we will vist the Canton, St. Paul & Pacific Railway, a 7-1/2" gage line in Canton. Sunday is a very rare trip. For the second time, we are allowed to do the switchbacks at Tate! We will set-on in Canton and go to Tate, then go down the switchbacks. We are not allowed to go all the way to the mines at the end of the branch. 20 car limit. Now the bad news: due to grade, only 4-cycle cars will be allowed. Trip goes rain or shine or ???? Bundle up! Also, every car must carry sand for the hill. Trip fee is $100. The registration is now available in PDF or WORD. Read about the 2009 trip here.
